Sport Club International at the Nelson Mandela School Berlin at the Weißensee Cross Country Run 2025

With 11 athletes, our Sport Club International at the Nelson Mandela School Berlin e. V. took part in this year's Weißensee Cross Country Run on 7 December 2025. With great enthusiasm and outstanding support from the accompanying audience, classmates, parents and siblings, our runners competed in the 1.6 km, 3.2 km and 12 km disciplines. Our talented runners Simon (1.6 km) and Elisabeth, as well as our NMS alumnus Lucas (3.2 km), achieved great results in the shorter distances. The SCI-NMS put in a particularly strong performance in the discipline for which the organiser had not even planned a youth classification: the 12 km distance – here, our school club had the most participants of all the clubs registered.

Of the six runners from the SCI-NMS competing in the longest distance of the day, Tizian and Lora achieved the best results, and the other runners from our club, including Sebastian and Max, also achieved excellent finish times. Even two teachers took part (Mr Hensel and Mr Schmitt, both achieving top 3 placings in their age groups), and particular mention must be made of Mr Hensel's commitment to attending the event, who made a special trip to Berlin-Weißensee from his sabbatical abroad – hats off to him!Special thanks go above all to our team coach Mr Fraikin, who did an excellent job of preparing our young athletes for the competition during training and provided them with outstanding support during the cross-country race with motivational encouragement and tactical advice. We are looking forward to the Weißensee Cross-Country Race in 2026!
