Intersectional Student Union

Intersectional Student Union

We are a student led group, focused on supporting marginalized communities through the initiation of projects and workshops. Past projects of ours include Instagram campaigns for Black History Month, various bake sales, movie nights and sexual awareness workshops. Recently, we organized a fundraiser for World AIDS Day, which we then concluded by holding a movie night for NMS students. We have also collaborated with the Junior ISU at the primary school, with the aim of creating projects that involve both primary and secondary students. As a group, we strive to create a space in which students feel safe to express their personal identities, and in which students are
encouraged to reflect on their actions and the implications these have on the people around us.Everyone is welcome! We are always excited to accept new group members.

 PROJECTS

World Aids Day:
On the first of December every year, the world comes together to raise awareness and educate people
on HIV/AIDS and establish international solidarity. To do our part in 2021, the ISU handed out flyers
and brochures on a diverse range of topics related to HIV/Aids. We also organized a bake sale to
donate to the Berliner Aids-Hilfe, raising more money than any school previously! Additionally, we
distributed ribbons to the school community! In the afternoon, we held a movie night. Everyone was
welcome to come and watch the documentary How to Survive a Plague, followed by a joint
discussion.
In 2022 we, again, organised a bake sale in order to raise money for the Berliner Aids Hilfe. We held a
movie night and watched the documentary We Were Here by David Weissman.

Black History Month instagram campaign:
To celebrate Black History Month the ISU has created an Instagram campaign, aimed to inform the
students of NMS. Every day in February, one influential black person such as authors, artists, and
activists, and a short description of their life, is posted to our Instagram. We hope that this allows our
Instagram following to discover new sources of inspiration. If you would like to keep up with our
Instagram account, don’t hesitate to check it out: @isunms.
