Dear Nelson Mandela State International School Community,

Another school year has come to an end and with it my fifth year as chair of the parent council. During this time the community has grown from 600 students in primary and secondary to now 1.100 students in both segments of the school. The vastly different backgrounds of parents, pupils and staff ensure that we can carry the international in our name with pride and respect.

Past Thursday I had the honor of being awarded a certificate by the local authorities for my volunteer work at the NMS throughout these years. Now I in turn, want to thank you for your support and trust, without which such service would be impossible.

By enrolling your child at the school you embark on a partnership. Together with the pedagogues, parents are important agents in the development of a child´s school career. Volunteer work is essential.  Be involved, take interest, promote academic success by bringing in your experience and expertise. Committees and support groups are open and welcoming. I encourage you to join, share and bring in new ideas.
