7th September 2019 at Secondary Campus, Pfalzburger Straße 30

Feeling refreshed and ready to start the school year with some FUN?! Let’s get our NMS community spirit kick-started and show what we stand for, with this year’s Festival of Nations.

If your class hasn’t yet chosen a country/region, use your first class meeting of the year to pick a Stand Captain or two, collect together ideas and funds and grab your flag of choice. Many classes have already picked a country, so do check the Doodle list below first. The committee would love to see as much diversity as possible, so look around your class and rejoice in the sheer number of countries that our families represent. Enter your class (including an e-mail contact) on the Country Choice Doodle list:

3rd grade classes are responsible for the Book Stand (a helpful guide for which is included in the Stand Planning Guide, linked below), 5th grade classes represent South Africa, and 7th grade classes take on Germany. It’s a great opportunity for these classes to come together and get to know each other.
All Stand Captains:
Please read the Stand Planning guide thoroughly. The FoN committee has attempted to make this as comprehensive as possible and it should hopefully answer most questions:

SAVE THE DATE! ** Stand Captain Meeting ** 5pm Wednesday 21st August opposite P30 Mensa:
This is the chance to receive important information and to ask any outstanding questions. If you cannot attend, please be sure to send a deputy.

Stand Declaration Forms should be completed as soon as possible and returned by e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with a final deadline of 21st August. Please give as much detail as possible about your ideas to help with smooth planning of the festival. Be aware that we are limited by space and electrical supply but can usually find a way to accommodate most plans as long as we know in advance.

When planning your stand, please keep in mind that this is primarily a School Festival. We would love to raise lots of funds for the school, but we would love this to be a fun celebration, with plenty to do for the whole family. It doesn’t have to be a chore, let’s try to keep the focus on coming together and having a great time together in true Ubuntu spirit!

BOOK DONATIONS: Donations of Books, DVDs and Audio Books would be gratefully accepted for the Book Stand. These can be in English or German but should be in good condition and preferably items that are likely to sell.

SILENT AUCTION: The committee is planning a Silent Auction for this year’s Festival. If you have something you can donate, we would love to hear from you! This can be anything from tickets to a show or event, a meal in a restaurant, vouchers for professional services, or a desirable item. But please don’t be limited by our ideas, we are open to all generous suggestions!

STAGE PERFORMANCES: Are you a member of a performing group? Would you like to showcase your talents to the school community? Apply for some stage time at this year's festival by contacting the committee!

Wishing the whole NMS community a successful start to the 2019/20 school year.
