In-between setting up the stands in a storm on Friday afternoon and Sunday’s downpour, we were fortunate to have the sun shine on our fabulous 2018 Festival of Nations. And what a day it was! We are proud to be able to say that it was a big success. The atmosphere was amazing, and the stands were incredible. Sure, there were some hiccups along the way at times, but the end result was raising a HUGE sum of money for the school – over €21,000 was raised on the day!! And there was a real party feeling that meant it truly felt like we were celebrating our unique community.

…There are A LOT of Thank Yous…

A massive thank you firstly to Rudi, “Hausmeister Extraordinaire”, for his patience, advice and help, throughout the whole process. To the fabulous and patient Buzz Team who added their magic touch to all our messages. To Manja Blunk and her school shop team. To Beate and Virginia for their groundwork and advice. To management, secretaries, teachers and library staff for all their support. To Lisa Audouin for her tips regarding the Book Stand. To Can Göy for his graphic design work. To the Friends for their help and very welcome Prosecco(!). To Arun, Konrad, Sinead and Nadine, the banking team who worked with Sara, for their hours and hours of counting. And to anyone else who, in an ocean of people we owe our gratitude to, we may have missed out.

And Thank you to our Entertainment and Tombola Sponsors: One Vibe Dance School, BMW, TOTAL, Voxtrain, Jamaica Tourist Board, Toro Negro, Swissôtel, Maritim, Marion Appel, Tim Lockwood

As a new organising committee, we had such a lot to learn, but we did it with laughter and had a lot of fun along the way. So, we’re also grateful to have had such a lovely team.

We thank you all for your generosity, your teamwork, your commitment, your spirit and your kindness. This is what oils the wheels of our community and makes Nelson Mandela School the special place that it is.

We will return next year with improvements and, with your help, we’ll do it all again!

Your 2018 Festival of Nations Organising Team,

Chevannes, Ivos, Maja, Rhian and Sara
