Fashion Revolution Day 1 24 April 2017

On April 24 our Fashion Revolution Project took place at P30. The Monday started off at around 11am with David Brown, Juliane Horn, Florentine Baumann, fashion designer Wilfried Pletzinger and many students setting up the ground floor of the new building – eight sewing machines, information tables, beamer, screen and loudspeakers plus a large table with second hand clothes were installed. David Brown’s Global Learning classes from year 11 had organized information stalls, quizzes and films – some of his students had prepared impressive speeches that they held throughout the day.

Thanks to the NMS FRIENDS Wilfried Pletzinger, an upcycling fashion designer, joined the FASHION REVOLUTION like in the previous years and supported our students as creative director. He monitored our students from all grades who upcycled garments using the school machines or by hand. Some tailoring expert students were demonstrating how to handle the sewing machines while other students came to join in during breaks or with their learning groups since some teachers took advantage of the fashion revolution at our school to combine with their teaching topics. During the lunch break – from 1.10 to 1.30pm – Wilfried Pletzinger presented his fashion concept and talked to the students about his inspiration. To increase the awareness of the garment production many of our students and teachers decided to make a statement by wearing their clothes inside out to show the label.
